The Cultura que Cuida pilot project comes to an end

Feb 19, 2026 | News

We have reached the end of the Cultura que Cuida pilot project, an initiative of the Casa Hermes Foundation in partnership with ITAU – Instituto Técnico de Alimentação Humana (Technical Institute of Human Nutrition), aimed at promoting active aging through cultural prescription.

Between November 2025 and February 2026, the program ran with users of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Aveiro, comprising 12 sessions and more than 140 attendees throughout the course.

Art, memory, movement, and sharing went hand in hand, affirming culture as an essential dimension of care.

The closing session was a true reflection of what we experienced over these months. We revisited what we had learned through a lively Game of Glory, with questions inspired by all the sessions; we watched a video that brought together memorable moments from the project, which we are sharing today; and we inaugurated a small exhibition with the works developed by the participants — a living expression of their creativity, dedication, and identity.

It was a moment of pride, belonging, and emotion, confirming the positive impact of this collective experience.

We would like to thank ITAU — Instituto Técnico de Alimentação Humana (Technical Institute of Human Nutrition), our partner on this journey; Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Aveiro, for their trust and involvement; Diaverum’s Aveiro Unit for their collaboration; and all the professionals and participants who gave meaning to each session.

We share some moments from this pilot project.
