The Ílhavo Maritime Museum (MMI) welcomed the Casa Hermes Foundation team for two days full of learning, in terms of educational services, operations and the various services it offers.
Bárbara Martins and João Bastião provided us with two enriching guided tours of the museum, accompanying two school groups, from kindergarten and 3rd grade, who were very curious and eager to learn about the history surrounding work at sea, cod fishing and the activities carried out in the Ria de Aveiro.
Our special thanks to the person responsible for the Educational Service, Dr. Ana Catarina Nunes, and to Dr. Paula Ribeiro, member of the MMI board, who so kindly offered to welcome us and share their good practices.
The MMI, a Museum of the Municipality of Ílhavo, has the mission of preserving the memory of work at sea and promoting the maritime culture and identity of the Portuguese, revealing the profound ethnographic wealth of the coastal populations shaped by the bravery of the sea, the source of their survival.
A Museum not to be missed!
